On January 12, Guardians of Old Glory reached a milestone that will forever be part of our story, our very first official flag ceremony.

What began just months ago as a simple idea became a powerful, living moment of service, tradition, and community pride. That evening, Alhambra, California Boy Scout Troop 139 gathered not just to receive flags, but to step into a responsibility that has been passed down for generations: caring for Old Glory with honor and respect.

During the ceremony, United States Marines conducted a moving flag presentation, exemplifying the precision, dignity, and reverence that our nation’s flag deserves. One by one, folded American flags were formally presented to the Scouts, a symbolic handoff from those who have defended our country to those who will help carry its values forward.

In total, 100 brand-new, American-made American flags were placed into the hands of the Scouts of Troop 139. These flags will soon fly throughout local neighborhoods, replacing worn and weathered flags at no cost to homeowners. Each replacement represents more than a fresh flagpole — it represents pride restored, respect renewed, and a quiet reminder of what unites us.

The evening was made even more meaningful by the support of our wider community. Local first responders, civic leaders, and neighbors stood alongside the Scouts, reinforcing that this mission belongs to all of us. The impact of the night reached even further with ABC7 News on hand to capture the story.

We are honored that the ceremony will be featured on ABC7’s “ABC7 Salutes” segment, airing January 30th during the 6:00 PM news broadcast — helping share the Scouts’ service and commitment with viewers across Southern California.

At the heart of it all were the Scouts. Watching them stand tall as they received their flags made one thing abundantly clear: the future of our communities is in good hands.

This ceremony wasn’t just about flags.
It was about responsibility.
It was about legacy.
And it was about reminding our communities that caring for our flag is one small but meaningful way to care for each other.

We are deeply grateful to Alhambra Boy Scout Troop 139, the United States Marines, and everyone who helped make this night possible. January 12 marked the first chapter of many to come, and we are honored to continue this mission together.

Old Glory still flies proud, because people still care.
